Bremerton, WA – $5.5 Million in Damages!

February 15, 2017

Four years earlier, a young Bremerton, Washington teen was walking to school on a dark and rainy morning.  She entered a crossing after northbound vehicles had stopped.  As she crossed, a southbound vehicle operator failed to see the teen, running her over.  The young woman received life altering injuries, loosing most of her scalp and with it, her ability to grow hair.

Defense attorneys argued newly painted lines and lowered speed limits should have been sufficient, despite 8 previous pedestrian collisions in the same area.  Their expert testified that lighting was not a factor citing facts which were contradicted in his own literature.

GLCE’s Dan Billington showed through his scientific analysis how weather, poor lighting design/placement, and negligence on the part of the municipality were the proximate causes in the collision.  His command during testimony quashed defense attempts to paint the collision any other way.

After testimony, the defense conceded, settling the case for a staggering $5.5 Million.
